About Us
About Us
The Wild Rover is a family-owned Irish pub located in Phnom Penh Cambodia. Alan is from County Derry, Ireland and his wife Dewi is from Jakarta, Indonesia. They are both long-term residents in Cambodia, having lived and worked in Phnom Penh for 10+ years.
How it Began
No matter where you go in the world you will find an Irish pub, right? Not always! Phnom Penh had no Irish Pub! There used to be a fair few but they had sadly all closed in recent years.
Alan and Dewi decided to get stuck in and fill the gap, by renting a riverside location and developing what is now The Wild Rover! After one month of renovation, the doors officially opened to the public on 2nd November, 2024.
What to Expect
The Wild Rover was designed to have a proper “pub feel” and is kitted out with wooden furniture and a proper wooden bar. It is a family friendly pub that can accommodate up to 28 people seating – with extra foldable seats available for busier days!

Our Staff
The bar manager, Julie, is also from County Derry, Ireland! Julie has extensive experience in the hospitality industry – and has worked all over the world. Julie moved from Siem Reap for the position – where she had lived for 5+ years. She is a fantastic host and is dedicated to ensuring thirsty folk get a decent drink in a timely manner!
As well as Cambodian / Khmer, and English, we can also speak French (Julie) and Bahasa Indonesian (Alan & Dewi).
Thank You
Since opening to the public in November 2024, The Wild Rover has received a tremendous amount of support from both locals and expats in Phnom Penh as well as tourists passing through the capital city. We have met so many fantastic people and we are truly grateful for the support!
