We are excited to announce that The Wild Rover is collaborating with Hops Craft Beer to introduce a new craft stout (black beer)! There is no shortage of stouts, or black beers in Phnom Penh, such as Angkor Extra Stout, Black Panther Foreign Extra Stout, ABC Extra Stout and Hanuman Black, and so on. But, unlike all the other mass-produced stouts and craft stouts currently available in Cambodia – this stout is nitrogenated!

Nitrogenated Stout
Most beers are carbonated, either naturally or force-carbonated post fermentation. The adding of carbon dioxide creates large bubbles and gives the beer that fizzy mouth feel. Nitrogenating simply means adding nitrogen instead of adding carbon dioxide (carbonating).
Nitrogen gas, on the other hand, has a much smaller molecular size than carbon dioxide and therefore it creates much smaller bubbles. These tiny bubbles are what help create the white foamy head and smooth creamy texture that many Irish stouts such as Guinness and Irish red ales like Kilkenny are famous for.

Hops Craft Beer
All beer at the Hops Craft Beer Brewery is brewed following a strict 500+ year old German purity law and brewing tradition: only using water, malt, hops and yeast to create the purest beer possible.
While this new craft stout is nitrogenated, and you can expect a white foamy head and smooth creamy texture similar to a tapped Irish stout, it was not brewed to replicate the taste of Guinness! It is a specially prepared craft nitro stout with an ABV of 4.8% that has its own unique creamy texture and taste.
As well as craft nitro stout customers can enjoy Red Fury, a carbonated Hops Craft Beer red ale. Hops Craft Beer red ale is high in alcohol yet remains very smooth. The range of special malts gives this unique ale its full body and color. Hops Craft Beer Red Fury weighs in at ABV 6.8%.
International Irish Stout Drinking Day!
Sure, there’s no better day to taste a new nitro stout than on international stout drinking day itself – Saint Patrick’s Day! And no better place in Phnom Penh than at The Wild Rover, the only Irish owned and Irish run Irish Pub!
The Wild Rover Riverside Phnom Penh – open daily (3pm – 12am)!
